Our history—our future
Innovative pharmaceuticals since 1919
In 1919, F. A. Upsher-Smith began processing digitalis drug products to treat
patients suffering from congestive heart failure. As an inventive research
pharmacist, he was able to improve the drug product and create a uniform, predictably
active form of digitalis. Upsher-Smith Laboratories still produces cardiology
products and has expanded to the areas of dermatology and women’s health as
well. Today, Upsher-Smith is focusing on neurology products that treat epilepsy
and Parkinson's disease.
We’re building healthcare for the future
The tradition of designing innovative pharmaceuticals has been passed on to the descendants of F. A. Upsher-Smith. Today, the father-son team of Ken Evenstad, Chairman of the Board, and Mark Evenstad, President and Vice Chairman, remains committed to leading the company on its mission to improve people’s lives through innovative pharmacotherapy.
Advancing pharmacotherapy. Improving life
As our company evolves, our goal remains the same: to assist individuals in making the best use of medicines. This not only means producing quality pharmaceutical products, but providing access to them as well. We promise to provide reliable, affordable products that have a daily impact to improve lives.
